Our Managing Director, Nicola, had the pleasure of being part of a ‘Futures Evening’ to inspire the next generation of potential Digital Marketers at an event at Upper Batley High School recently.

Nicola was there on behalf of hellomint in order to promote careers in digital marketing as an alternative to some of the more traditional careers children are exposed to at school.

In a changing job market, we think it’s important that children are aware of the way in which career opportunities are changing with advancements in technologies and trends such as social media, SEO and online marketing.

Nicola did a presentation and a workshop with the Upper Batley School pupils, which she’s thrilled to report they responded to with enthusiasm.

The pupils had plenty of questions about exactly what owning a successful digital marketing company involved, and Nicola was happy to share her knowledge and experiences she’s gained after four years at the helm of hellomint!

Nicola enthused about the evening: “When I was at school, there was no real information available about what a career in marketing involved. Schools can sometimes just focus on getting children into college or university, without letting them know about different career options and different routes into them.”

“I think it’s really important to go into schools and be an example of what the range of careers that are possible outside of the curriculum. I think it’s great that Upper Batley High School have people like me come in for these events to show students all the doors that are open to them.”

The Headteacher of Upper Batley High School said: “On behalf of all the Governors, staff and learners at Upper Batley High School, I would like to thank Nicola for attending our recent Futures Evening. Her attendance has helped pupils make informed choices about their GCSE choices and possible career pathways. We look forward to working with her again in the future.”

Nicola is always keen to take part in events that can help inspire the next generation of graduates, whether that be graduates from school, college or university level. Throughout the year Nicola attends career events whenever she can, and she’s looking forward to taking part in many more soon!
